Bali:

Things To Do:

  • Spend the day at Potato Head Beach Club. The club is free to get into, so you only spend money on what you eat and drink. If you would like to get a table near the pool, you have to spend ~$35 throughout the day on food, drinks, etc. Tables are in high demand, so make sure to get there early (a little before 9am).
    • If you can, stay for sunset! It’s a great spot to watch from.
    • Finn’s Beach Club is another good club to hang out at for the day.
  • Go surfing at Batu Bolong Beach (Old Man’s Beach). You can get a board and a private guide for 2 hours for $25. Cash only.
  • Take a day trip to Ubud:
    • To get to Ubud from Seminyak / Canggu, I would recommend hiring a private driver for the day. I hired a driver for 12 hour and it was $75. He took my friends and I anywhere we wanted, answered all of our questions and had great music! If you would like his contact, please let me know!
    • Take a yoga class at The Yoga Barn (get there a few minutes early to make sure you get a spot, as you cannot make reservations).
    • Spend a few hours at the spa. I went to Bali Botanica and got the Mandi Treatment (65 minute massage, 25 minute body scrub and moisturizer and a 20 minute flower bath) for $18. It was the best spa treatment I’ve ever had.
      • Karsa Spa is another popular spa to visit.
      • Make sure you make a reservation for either place several weeks in advance!
    • Visit the Monkey Forest.
    • Go boutique shopping along Monkey Road.
    • Uma Pakel Argo Tourism & Swing: here you get a free tour and explanation of how the local coffee is made, and they have a variety of swings and nests to take pictures in. The nests are free, but you have to pay for the swings. If you are going to the rice terraces, I would wait to do the swings there because the views are much better and the swings are cheaper. DON’T PAY TO GO TO THE BALI SWING. It is a rip off and there are plenty of other swing options.
    • Tegallalang Rice Terrace: really cool to see, even in the planting season. There is a sign that says “Donations are required” to get in, but you don’t have to pay, just walk to the rice terraces.
  • Shop at Monsieur Blonde. This shop has the best silver and gold jewelry, for reasonable prices. A great stop for gifts!

Accommodation:

  • I would recommend staying in the Seminyak or Canggu area. Ubud is nice, but far from the beach, not as nice sunsets and doesn’t have as many restaurants.
  • Kazz Villa (AirBnb): a really nice villa and in a great location!

Food: there are so many cute cafes and eateries, that anywhere you walk you can find good food, so don’t go too far out of your way to make it to all of these recommendations. The ones listed below are the places I ate at that I really enjoyed.

  • Milk & Madu: great brunch, think avo toast, smoothie bowls and a variety of egg dishes.
  • Nüde: amazing dinner menu. Try to make it to this restaurant because all of the food was outstanding!
  • Bali Bowls: delicious brunch spot! They are known for their smoothie bowls and make your own toast.
  • MyWarung Canggu: nice dinner with healthy menu options.
  • Old Man’s Bar: fun spot to hang out at after surfing. Good happy hour deals and great food!

Notes:

  • If you are visiting Bali during Ramadan, make sure you are prepared for a lot of traffic.
  • Bali has great, unique boutique stores, so get ready to shop until you drop!
